I have just purchased an OM-1 Mark II and am trying to figure out some of its settings. I've taken two comparison photos to test the noise reduction. First shot had the Noise Reduction Filer turned on (Menu 1/screen /3. Noise reduction/Noise filter/ON). Second one had it turned on. Both taken at ISO 1600 /f.28, 1/25th. When I look at each next to each other, there appears to be no change in noise level (see attached). Then I took the filter OFF version and ran it through Topaz Photo AI and the removal of noise was remarkable. My question -- is there supposed to be a significant reduction in noise using the OM-1 Noise Reduction or is there some other setting that has to be initiated to have the Noise Reduction Filter actually work?

Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? These settings are only for JPEGs. In any case I would recommend keeping it off, since you can use Topaz more effectively.

I shoot RAW and JPEG, store both in an original fold, and then only look at an post process the RAW files.
