Hi, I've owned an Olympus Stylus Zoom for a few months now and have never had an issue. Recently, the battery died, but when I replaced the battery it won't turn back on again. When I try to slide the viewport open to turn it on, the shutter opens like it's going to turn on normally, but then immediately retracts. Also, the flash won't pop back down into place no matter what I try.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do about this?

(This is a copied post but it’s the exact same issue I have)

I’m not sure that copying someone else’s post without attribution is really a good idea from an ethical perspective, or from a problem-solving perspective either. In the existing thread there were some valid hints to consider, especially the ones that indicate that repair of these point-n-shoots really isn’t practical. If the problem-solving suggestions in the prior thread don’t work, my suggestion is to replace the malfunctioning camera.
