Olympus OM winder release

My Winder 2 has what looks like a socket for an electrical cable release. What kind of plug fits in this socket? I would guess that shorting the contacts would cause the winder to fire; is that correct?

I forget but believe it is 2.5 mm (else 3.5), but certainly a (mono) jack plug.
And yes: all you need is to create a short between the poles.
