Do you know how to permanently disable AF confirmation beep? There are two buttons "drive" and "flash". It works only till next power off/ on. It is very annoying.

No, I don't know, but I guess a skilled electronics technician can cut the wire to the beeper.

It's a bridge camera, so it's not very customize-able. It has a great lens and takes nice sharp photos. I have one and use it, but only if I know where I'm going has good light and no need for much compensation.
 
It is very doubtful there is a way to permanently disable it. When the camera is switched off and on it is essentially being rebooted. It's like that damn flash on the Stylus.
