Olympus 35SP Rangefinder not working

Picked up a really nice 35SP, but the rangefinder patch moves only from 15' to infinity. Anything closer, and it doesn't move. I did find one site where the guy had almost the same problem (wouldn't move at all off infinity), and the only way in that he found was by removing the top and the lens.

Not really excited about removing the lens assembly, as I'd have to partly remove the skin. The camera looks like new, so I'd prefer not to if I can avoid it. I also can not get the top off.

Anyone ever work on one of these?

Nevermind, I got it. Didn't even have to take off the lens.

Hi there, I just got a 35 SP and it has the exact same issue! Any pointers for me? I got the top and bottom plate off and was probly going in the lens next but if I don't have to that would be sweet

I know it's only been 4 months, but in all honesty, I don't remember what I did to fix it.

I most likely took off the top plate, but after that, I don't have an idea what I did, and if I guess, I could lead you down a path of destruction.
