I bought a small bottle of (old) Viradon yesterday at a local supplier known for keeping stuff around until the cartons yellow with age (and the dust grows thick). Never having used the product when it was current, I wanted to ask if anyone knows how well the concentrate lasts?

It's a relatively dark brown/yellow colour - is that normal?

If that is normal, and I like the way it looks (haven't been able to test it yet) I may go buy the few remaining 125ml bottles. (which, by the way, are tagged at CDN$9.99 +14% taxes - good price, bad price, I haven't a clue.)

Curious, Dave

It should smell like rotten eggs, due to the sulphur and it should have a dark color, if it is old it may the older formula with selenium. Check the internet for current pricing.

But how long does the concentrate last?

Assuming it is the "old" Viradon, does anybody have any experience that would indicate (roughly) how long the concentrate might be good for?

(comment on price was a FYI thing only - I know where to buy some, if I can be reasonably assured of it's being useful given the "age" of the product on the shelf.)

I have old Kodak toner that must be well over 20 years old that still works. I test it on a print and see what happens. You may to shake it up to remix the chemistry.

I'm still using the same bottle of old Viradon I started using 20 years ago. The concentrate lasts a very long time.
