Hello all,

Looking for a little help. I've got a very nice Cycle-Poco 5x7. The lens is clear and the aperture leaves work perfectly but I recently noticed that the shutter is sticking. Does anybody have a recommendation on who I can send it out to for the CLA treatment? I'd love to get this girl working again - its the oldest in my collection.

Thanks

zack's can repair just about anything
has an house machine shop too.

that said, sometimes old school shutters ( like degroff pistons )
use a dry lubricant ... like graphite dust ...
charlie webb, a pro who used to post here often, used to recommend
lubricating the degroff pistons with graphite dust ...
(i am guessing that old piston shutters might be the same)

i did this same treatment on an old boston pencil sharpener when
the gearing got clunky, worked like a charm ... i realized that the
pencil lead ( graphite ) lubricated every sharpening ...

good luck !

That's a pretty simple shutter, I believe it has only the one speed "I" and the piston/cylinder are for a bulb & hose release. Before you succumb to any homebrew methods, be advised that quite a few shutters of that vintage have hard rubber or paper composition shutter/ aperture blades that can turn to goo if you flood it with Ronsonol or similar solvents.
Timing piston/cylinder assemblies are best left perfectly clean and dry.

I saw one of these (or at least remarkably similar) in Windsor, Nova Scotia just two weeks ago! It was NOT in the kind of shape yours is. I couldn't figure out what the little box on the bottom front right was for though (but I didn't really spend much time looking at it, it was in pretty hard shape). What are the odds coming across this camera for a second time in as many weeks?
