In this scene within seconds (changing with takes) the photographer miraculously first has an SLR with a 200mm or so lens, then a rangefinder(?) camera with short lens and rectangular shade, then a Nikkor F with short lens ...

For the past few months, I've been watching old Japanese films from the early 30's, 40's 50's. Many of them have scenes which involve a photographer, either photography a family portrait or wedding. Always large format. The person working the camera actually looks like they know what they are doing.

Anybody ever saw a film casette labeled FILM?

If you look carefully you would see that the word is on a sticker. There seems some more covering at the text below.

You wondered what brand of film is just call "Film".

Well, by hinting at the "Film" just being put on by sticker on the cassette and also some printed text covered by paint, I wanted to indicate that at the props department a common brand film was just made "generic".

And the can in the fridge that the main character eats branded “food.” It was a real thing here in Southern California, I think it was the Ralph’s food chain that we introduced it in the early ‘80s. There was a section in the store for these generics, like “beer” or “paper towels”. Funny movie.

Well from what I understand he asks: "Isn't that a Thornton Pickard?"

However next one can hear him tell which camera he himself owns...but the name of the make is unintelligible. It seems that the name is then repeated by the photographer...but again unintelligible. Guess they didn't pronounce the full name very clear since they didn't actually have the knowledge as actors.....

Btw the camera is not fully set: one can see that the metal struts are not connected to the front panel (needed to keep it straight up).
