Okay, is anybody using 2 1/4 3 1/4 graphics?

I have an old speed which onto the lens board I have mounted a 6 inch red dot Atar. Using a 6x7 Singer back with the focal plane shutter. I got to say, I love shooting with this set up. Not convenient, but pretty pics.

I have a Crown, the first sheet film camera I ever bought. Despite having both sheet film holders and some roll film backs, I seldom use it anymore. I've come to so prefer contact printing that I shoot larger negs these days.

I do love the camera, though.

My old miniature graphic is still going strong. When I choose to use anything that small, it is the camera of choice. Original lens and both shutters work well, and I still use sheet film in graphmatics.

I occasionally use a 2x3 Speed, with sheet film, when I want the flexibility of the press camera and don't feel like carrying a bunch of 4x5 holders or the weight of my 2x3 Horseman.

My 2x3 Speed is so cute, it's hard NOT to use it. But I normally shoot with 120 (6x7), despite having many cut film holders. Just easier to process for me.

Century Graphic. One of my favourite medium format cameras. 80/2.8 Zenotar, 100/4.5 Kodak Anastigmat, 105/3.5 Colour-Heliar, 135/4.5 Tominon, ~165/6.3 Zeiss Kodak Anastigmat. The Zenotar gets the most use.

I have 3 of the small graphics. Two Crowns and a Century. One is set of with a 65mm wide Angle, one with a 150mm portrait, and one has a normal 101mm Ektar. I love setting these cameras Kalart rangefinders up with a specific lens. The 150mm was the toughest to set up for me but boy was it worth it. I use both sheet film and Roll film with all 3 but prefer roll film for ease of developement. Wish I could find a Jobo reel that would hold 21/4 by 31/4 sheet film.

I had a B&J Watson for a while and sold it when I got a good deal on a Linhof Tech V 23b, which has been at Marflex for the past several months having three lenses cammed and general service, but before I sent it out, I used it for about a year, and I really like it. Compared to my 4x5" Tech V, it's light and handy, but it still has all the view camera movements when I want them, and I shoot both rollfilm and sheet film in it.

I have the Busch Pressman 23 setup also with Graflock back and have the grafmatic, sheet film holders, and Graphic 22 and 23 roll holders. A lot of accessories for a small camera with one lens on it, the original 101mm. The lens board is small on these and I was going to make an adapter board to take longer lenses, the bellows is quite long, but with the time and energy it takes and other projects I probably won't change a thing. I don't use it much, but I haven't been doing as much shooting as I intend to.

The 2x3 Speed still gets pulled out occasionally, the 2x3 Century, not as much. Better lens 101 Ektar on the Speed. Usually though, if I am shooting 120 or 6x9 cut film, it's on the rb67. I gots the lens, I am gonna use them.
I recommend you look into used rb67 roll film holders. Much better construction and spacing than the 22 or 23s.

I keep a 2x3 Speed Graphic in the van most of the time along with 6 sheet film holders. I am still searching for a graflok back to use instead of the spring back. I also have a second Speed Graphic that I picked up at a flea market and a Hacon Technika 2x3 that has a triple extension bellows. In the freezer I have a supply of 2x3 film packs which I use on occassion.

Oh Boy - I use a 2x3 Crown Graphic all the time, but I also mess about with a baby Speed, a Galvin view camera, a Busch pressman, and the lovely Rilex aluminium press camera in this format. Mostly using graphic backs for graflok, but also a clunky adapt-a-roll thing for the Busch and Rilex so I don't have to modify the backs.
I grabbed a stack of 2x3 HP5 sheet film from a country photo shop last year, so sometimes sheet film too for fun!!

2x3 Pacemaker Speed, Century, and Crown. Lenses from 38 mm to 480 mm. Using lenses longer than 300 mm requires the Speed and Century or Crown together, mounted front to rear on a rail, i.e., a tandem camera.

IMO one needs two 2x3 Graphics. The shortest lens I've used that will cover 2x3 and focus to infinity is the 58/5.6 Grandagon; haven't tried 53 Biogon or 50/6.3 Mamiya. Shorter than that wants a Century/Crown. The longest lens that will work comfortably on a 2x3 Crown/Century is a 250 mm tele, longer that that one wants a Speed. And of course for barrel lenses, e.g., the 12"/4 TTH, which works comfortably on a 2x3 Speed, its a Speed or nothing.

I shoot 2x3 but have an RH-12 that I bought because the price was very right and don't use. Should use it with the 38 Biogon and maybe the 1.75"/2.8 Elcan (but not that good a lens). The Elcan, by the way, is, as far as I know, the shortest lens that will focus to infinity on a 2x3 Speed.

Century Graphic is going back together in a day or so after fixing the catches for the GG. I've gotten some good shots out of it with rollfilm and a variety of lenses, but the back is long gone and I may sell it. The only way I might keep it is to get the longest lens I can for it to shoot coastal shots, sailboats etc.

I've a Century Graphic with a Rodenstock Ysarex 1:4.5. 105mm. Superb little camera. I just wish I could get some way of attaching a GG screen. I've got the Graflok 23 rollfol back and the Kalart rangefinders pretty accurate, but I'd love to try different lenses.

I haven't seen any lens boards for the Busch Pressman C for sale, the original glossy black gorlite type of material. My guess is that these cameras came with the one and only lens that it was supposed to have as compared to cameras with lens and cam combinations for the finder.

Rob, your question is incomprehensible. The Century has an integral Graflok back. A 2x3 Pacemaker focusing panel attaches directly to it. It sounds like you don't have a focusing panel. If so, you have two options.

The easy option is to buy a focusing panel. www.eBay.com , also check with Jim Andracki at www.mpex.com .

The harder option is to buy a 2x3 Film Pack Adapter with a film pack still in it, gut the thing, get a piece of ground glass that will fit in the film pack, and go.

Thanks Dan. I've told that 2x3 pacemaker focussing panels are very hard to find, particularly in the UK. So far I haven't found one on Ebay, either. Thanks for the link to mpex - sounds a bit more hopeful, although they haven't got one at the moment. I may try the DIY approach some time though.

I have a like-new Century with red bellows, 2 grafmatics, a bunch of sheet film holders (10 of them are new Linhofs, very cool). I also have a 6x9 Arca for which I was able to obtain a real Arca spring back. I just never seem to use either, my instincts always make me grab my 4x5..Evan Clarke

Rob, look for Sirchie cameras made by Sirchie Fingerprint Labs. Some were 2x3 and have Grafloks. I suggest this because last year I bought a Sirchie ID camera "for the shutter the lens was in" and to my astonishment it arrived with a 2x3 Pacemaker focusing panel. I hadn't expected the focusing panel and am glad it was there since not long after I dropped one and ruined the folding hood.

Also look for focusing panels for the Graflex XL. They fit Centuries.
