I bought a 135N back for my SQ-Ai via ebay. No, it didn't come with instructions. I thought I figured out how to load the insert, but when I get it all together, I can't advance the film nor will the shutter fire.

Let me run this by you guys in case I didn't load it correctly:

Open back

Remove insert

Feed film between rollers and pressure plate and fix on take up spool

Replace insert in back and close door (getting it back in is a PITA)

Yes, the darkslide is out...

Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

TIA

Not that familiar w/Bronicas, but on 'Blad both pieces have to be either cocked or released. a mismatch won't allow the camera to cock/release. Could this be the problem?

I have a 135W back for my ETRS - and it's one of the trickiest pieces of equipment I've ever come across. It is possible to do everything wrong, with results like you describe. My best advice it to sacrifice a roll of film (35mm) and a couple of hours. Sit down with the bach and film, try every possible way to put the film in the insert (the correct way is not obvious), try to advance it, check that the emulsion is facing out (!) etc.

Good luck - it's been so long since I used mine that I may have to do this all over again...
