I changed from RC to fiber prints shortly after I began printing but in my haste and early enthusiasm, I bought at least eight bottles of Agfa Sistan last year that remain new and unopened. I would like to sell them on the classifieds if they can be shipped via Fed ex Ground or UPS if it is legal.

Yes, you should be able to ship it via UPS Ground. If you can find a copy of the MSDS for it, I would include that in the shipment as well.

All the bottles are yellow. Before I list them, is Sistan supposed to be yellow or clear?

Never used it. But on the website of the chemical plant that produces it, is a photo of the bottle containing a seeminlgly colourless fluid. However, they call it now "Sistan New"...

Not to steal the thread, but is Sistan available new here in the US? I haven't seen it listed.

I bought Sistan New from Freestyle (and I live in Canada). It arrived via normal USPS mail, so I think it was ground shipping. But on their web site there is no "ORMD - ground shipping only" mention for Sistan, the way there is one for Rodinal.

Fresh Sistan is clear. It turns yellow with age. I'm not sure how that affects its effectiveness. The active ingredient is a thiocyanate salt, which I'm guessing oxidizes or decomposes in some fashion to turn yellow. It must be susceptible to the same process even when it's in the print, and presumably that doesn't reduce its effectiveness. The other possibility is that it's the detergent that decomposes, but they're usually stable.
