Oh my God this @$&^!^'ing 355/9 G-Claron Still Won't Fit My New Shutter!!!

I ordered a lovely Copal 3 shutter all the way from Japan. This is a REAL Copal 3 and not 3S. The rear element fits...but the front doesn't seem to reach the threading!!!!

Does this little black ring screw off to maybe allow for the threads to travel a little deeper into the shutter to reach the threads?

On compur 0 shutters there is a plastic ring that pops out( vanity ring)
This looks like that but I can't say 100% about a 3

Yes, this seems to be the case, the ring is not part of the shutter. Google the Copal 3 shutter and look at the pictures...

I slipped a flathead in there and instead of trying to pry, I just rotated the screw driver, popped right out. The front element is now sitting pretty on the shutter.

SK Grimes is making me an aperture scale. This has been quite the journey for a lens with some internal haze/separation that I'm betting does not impact images in any way.

A year or so ago there was a 355 G-Claron on eBay with a Copal 1 shutter. It was an ƒ11 instead of ƒ9, but I kick myself for not buying it. The ƒ11 variant seems to be crazy rare, but I'd happily trade 2/3 stop for a much smaller lens. As it is I have a 355 ƒ9 and was my defult for 8x10 for a while (I like my defualt lenses slightly longer than standard.)

We got a test frame! I did a slight rise so I see that I ran out of coverage at the bottom of this frame. My aperture scale from SK Grimes has not yet arrived so shot wide open. I also haven't yet zeroed my Ritter camera so I kind of just eyeball the position of the front standard. Any tips on how to do that?

Anyway, the issue with the internals don't seem to be causing any issue here that I can see. So strange that this 355/9 is a wide angle lens on this format.

I souped the sheet in our XTol-R using an expert drum, came out great. I think you really need a lotta chemistry for this format so I pump 1000ml and do a pre-wet. (I always do a pre-wet with rotation)

you don't say what size you're using this on? A G-Claron running out of coverage means you must be using it on a very large format. The 150 almost covers 8x10 at infinity.

This test was on 11x14. Ill use it on 8x10 as well.
