Server is back up. What could have been a 3minute outage turned into 6hrs because I was asleep. I've been burning the candle at both ends the past 4 days so turned off my cellphone last night since the server had been running good. I wake up this morning to find a sms message on my cellphone shortly after I went to sleep "server down". It also slipped through the cracks with the host because the server monitoring the host uses had a typo in the ipaddress for our server that we discovered this morning.

Needless to say I was a wreck this morning...lost...alone...

Can we go back to the old server? This new one sucks. I had to find other photographic sites, on every one all the talk was 'digital this, that and the other' and 'film is dead'... :sad:

if the server is down and it is night-time in NZ, I am happy if it comes up and I don't mind if it doesn't. You deserve the chance to turn the cel phone off from time to time.

I agree. You need sleep too.

If I find APUG down during daytime I know it's the middle of the night in NZ, and don't expect it to be up immediately - or even within 6 hours.

You're doing a great job, and we do appreciate it!

Setting up the chatroom during the downtime was a great idea!
 
I managed to survive without my APUG fix for a while. I even thought about developing some film. Thanks Sean for all that you are doing.

After battling with a software firewall for 2 days I totally sympathise. It's sods law that 10 minutes after you leave the office machines go down.

Anyway, keep up the good work Sean. At least it's not a thankless job with the APUG users and your efforts are very appreciated.
