I once went to a Getty Museum showing in LA of Links works...the most interesting thing was the famous drive in movie shot "Hotshot Eastbound"...it's very cool, Link had cut out the original
negative portion from the Drive-In screen and replaced it with a separate exposure he had made...it was so neat to see the negative (I'm sure it's a copy of it)
with the little piece of neg spliced in. He did a lot of pioneering work with huge flash arrays back then...lyou can see the flash head reflectors in that shot...absolutely love his work.

Several years ago, we were driving through Roanoke and had arranged to meet a fellow photographer for dinner. That dinner turned into a two-day guided tour of the environs, including a highly informed visit to the Link Museum. They have a marvelous display of the cameras (and many, many lights) he used for his iconic images. Apparently he had such clout with the railway that they would adjust their schedules to allow him to get the shots he wanted under the lighting he preferred. At least once, they backed a train up for a second pass so he could get the right shot.

I have a book of his called:
"Life Along The Line"
Stunning pictures...!!
It is often photos like these, that I Bond/Yearn/Admire so much.....and then realize that most of them are never from a 35mm negative.
I am Just getting back into photography...sine 1980...and I am still a few months away from completing my darkroom. I have A LOT to learn With/About 35mm.
BUT... I think I realize, at some point, I am going to "need" a Medium-Large(r) format camera.
All in good time, horse in front of the cart, Patience/Virtue, etc etc.

I believe the Wife/Widow/Ex-Wife of his did some crappy things with his Photos/Money. I think the courts got involved.?
Isn't life hard enough.?

I suppose neither were angels. Depending on your point of view. When they divorced she got nothing of the marital assets. Somehow the lawyers and the judge so favoured Link that they managed to ignore the law. And yes she went to jail.

More exactly while they were married, she stole and hid his prints in several warehouses. She had a boy friend sell Link's photograph and kept the money from Link. Furthermore she worked hard to isolate him from all contacts including telephone calls and mail. Since his photographs were taken and printed before they were married, the photographs wholly belong to him and she had no legal claim on them. The judges did not favor him, nor did they ignore the law. I suggest that you actually do some research on the subject rather that blow a lot of hot air.

Whew!
And She locked him in the basement (which was the lower half of a split level with glass doors out to the back yard) and forced him to make prints. (with some kind of time machine to make them past prints, if you are correct).
He married Conchita in 1984 and divorced in 1993 and his 20x24 Special Edition prints for Danziger Gallery were made in 1991.
Also Without a prenup your premise is not correct. Are you suggesting that women are not guaranteed marital assets on divorce? and what value of assets did she get?
Anyway one point of view

Jeanine Pirro, the prosecutor is now a Fox commentator and her wiki page is a read.
Conchita likely was dishonest but she did make him a fortune managing and selling prints for ever increasing prices. She was charged with stealing $300,000; How many million did she make him?
He likely was a difficult, eccentric, vindictive man.
There are two sides to every story.
No more hot air.
