Local pick up only from San Francisco Ca.
I got this vacuum press a while back from another photographer and unfortunately never used it. I’m moving and don’t have room for this at our new place so it time to let it go.
I did check it out and the vacuum pump works and it draws a good vacuum. There are a couple issues, first it needs the foam strips that go underneath the vacuum blanket. This foam is what keeps the vacuum blanket in contact with the glass and it has really deteriorated. This appears to be some type of open cell foam and shouldn’t be too hard to source. Right now the blanket doesn’t contact the glass so the unit won’t hold a vacuum. I removed the latch strikes which allowed the glass to contact the blanket, so that I could test the unit, and the unit holds a vacuum just fine. The other issue is the gas struts that hold the glass top open are weak, which means that although they help lift the top they don’t have enough strength to hold the it up. These should also be easy to source, otherwise a couple support sticks would do the trick.
I will add that in getting this ready to list I did quite a bit of cleaning so with a little more work someone could have a nice vacuum press. The unit is large, measuring 52”x43”x30”. The usable area is about 32”x42”.
I also have metal halide grow light that I can through in on the deal if you need a UV light source.
