Oh. Good. A photography forum that doesn't shoot suspected A.I. users on sight. I was trying out TheXXXXXForum but they actually deleted one of my posts because the subject was A.I.
Luddites!

Photography became my hobby (literally) 70 years ago. Then life intervened, then I retired and took up writing. But now my doctor suggests I stop spending hours a day sitting at my computer writing and (truthfully, mostly) playing video games. I need an activity that is, um, active. So, I retrieved my camera equipment from some dark space that I don't want to ever visit again in my closet.

I joined PHOTRIO because this community can obviously teach me a lot.

Welcome aboard @DeadBob!

You'll find that some (many) here have a critical attitude towards AI, but it's definitely being discussed a lot and that's perfectly fine. We even have a dedicated subforum for AI-centered discussions and image-making, but of course, the topic pops up in many places just the same.

Welcome to Photrio.
Here on Photrio we are currently trying to determine an appropriate way to incorporate AI discussions into the rest of the site.
For now, we have opened a sub-forum for threads focusing primarily on AI imaging - you can find it here: https://www.photrio.com/forum/forums/ai-in-photography-and-other-arts.408/
For context, Photrio evolved from three former sites, with the most active being APUG - the Analog Photographers User Group. Photrio retains at its core many film users, as well as many users who still work in darkrooms and/or make prints using traditioanal printing techniques.
Lots of digital users and discussions as well - but it is important to understand some of the varied culture here.
We look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks, MattKing. I figured Photrio encompassed a wide variety of photographers. That speaks well of the community. One post I saw here, someone said they had spent time with their hands in a bag rerolling film into canisters. Been there, done that. Also, Photrio was the first one recommended to me by Copilot.ai.
