So, for the family color snapshot stuff I use my Nikon and shoot 35mm. I had been taking the stuff to Walmart, but they got the new digital machines with the digital printers and not only did they scratch the crap out of my negs the last time, the prints have not come out even close to acceptable, my children are not green. SO I go to walgreens and I get the same crap back only worse. Needless to say I am not having my stuff done at either of those places anymore. Now what? Those are the only games in town. Is there a cheap place to send this stuff off too? When I have enough 4x5's to make it worth doing I send them to Calypso, but if I wait to get enough of an order the wife will be a bit angry.

ANyone know of a place where sending a couple rolls to will give decent turn around not charge an arm and a leg in shipping.

Looking for Albuquerque locations as the mailing times will be quicker.

Just as a funny aside the lab guy at Walmart told me, after I took them to task over scratching my negs up(no it was not the camera), that they have never had a complaint about scratched negatives when they used their various card readers. After I told him those were digital files and not negatives he actually argued with me, because "the negatives are kept in the little card".

Mark,
Try Picture Perfect at 299-9594. I have taken e-6 to them and they did a good job. Or try Albuquerque Color Lab at 881-8383. You could try Visions in Santa Fe(don't know the number)

Albuquerque Color Lab has never scratched any of my film. C-41 processing (no prints) is $4.95 per roll. Machine prints with C-41 processing are $13.50/$17.99 (24/36 exp), which I think is really high.

I've also run dozens of "for sale on eBay" rolls through the Walgreens on Coors and Sequoia without any problems.

Where will you be mailing from? Are you in Albuquerque?

I recently had some B&W developing done by an APUG sponsor, Praus Productions, they did good work, and quick turnaround. I generally use Calypso for E6; haven't tried Praus for that yet.

I'm about thirty miles from the NM border in AZ. Gallup is close, and that is where things have gotten messed up. The prints prices sound really high.

I will look into those places. Thanks.

Mark my direction there is a lab that does color work near me. Their E6 machine is broken and he doesn't know if he can get parts. He does great work with C41 though. That puts you in the middle between Albuquerque and St. George.
