UPDATE/EDIT: OK the video has finished uploading/processing, here it is!

Be warned, you'll have to see my ugly mug...

Thanks, Stone, now that I finally see it. (the video, not your mug) I'm not sure if that procedure is necessary on the 045, but it makes sense why you would use it on the 8x10.

Still patiently (as if! :pouty: ) waiting for my camera to show up on the Canada Post tracking system.

Cheers,
Tom

Nice video.
Just played around with my chamonix 45F1 and to me it looks like it's designed not to have the front standard turned up side down prior to folding the base of it won't fit between rear standard and baseplate. Relative to the size of the 4x5" the locks and pins in the rear are pretty rigid too. On your 8x10" it seems like it was designed to fold the way you do it.

Yea the F1 is an anomaly because the rear standards "box" is not "square" it has a sort of angled box, so it doesn't surprise me that it's different. Thanks for testing it.

I wonder how the normal 4x5 N1/N-2 series compare.

I also had someone on YouTube or Facebook post that theit's came from the factory the way I described so that seems to confirm it, but others said the opposite, so maybe depends on the model.

Many congratulations, Tom.

Stone: Very useful video. Thanks a lot. I'm planning to get into 4x5 around late 2017. So this helps as I'm considering buying a Chamonix.

Glad it's helpful  they are great cameras.

I tried flipping the front standard rails on my 45N2 and while it did sort of work, the camera did not want to close all the way and the bellows seemed a bit more stressed from it. It might try it again later but I think I will stick to doing it the way I have since it is faster to setup and I made a nice hard rubber spacer years ago that seems to work great.

Good video though, thanks for taking the time to do it.

Well, she's here, (a full three weeks from order date) and she's a real beauty! I had something of a sleepless night anticipating today's arrival, and just a little worry that I would be hit with exorbitant import duties/taxes from Canada Customs. (as is their wont) My worries were for naught; the Government of Canada gave me a break today, and I'm now happily familiarizing myself with this beautiful piece of kit.

For my first trial shots, I planed down an old Calumet board that I had made several years ago, and that fits fine for now. I think I'll invest in some proper boards soon. (or just make a fresh batch of boards with the materials I have here) Given its relative lightness, I'm really impressed with how solid the camera is, and how rigid it is when it's all locked down. I can't wait to do some serious work with this camera!

Cheers,
Tom

Like Christmas in May! When I first had mine, I did an instant photo each week. It got me to set it up and take it down more than I likely would have otherwise. And I have a little book of Fujiroids from it.
