i was asked a year and a half by someone who asked me
if i never could shoot film again what would be the last roll i would use and why ..

so:
if you couldn't shoot film again, what would your last film and camera be, and why ?

Rollei TLR and Plus-X. Because that’s what I did my best work with.

But that’s a tough decision because Nikon F-3 and Kodak Gold 200 would be a close second. Same reason, plus incredible reliability... which I would really want for my final photographic venture.

Kodak 35RF and a 36 exp. roll of 25ASA Kodachrome, Weston 650 meter, because that combo was my first proper camera/meter and favorite film. Also, I figured out how to use them without instruction and before the internet.

I used my OM1 for my last roll of Kodachrome, so I would use it again for a last roll of Tri-X. But I don't think film is going anywhere anytime soon.

Hasselblad 503cw and 400TX cuz this camera and film has done me good over the years through thick and thin. Hope my Leica understands

There is plenty of film available,they are even making new cameras. Film photography will be around for years and years.

convert coconuts into a film tank + reel
and then channel in your inner NedL
and DarkroomExperimente from photrio, to

You mean one camera per format, right? And in the case of 35, one each rf and slr?

Ok, Rolleiflex 3.5F + HP5+ I suppose.

Olympus Pen F and a roll of Ilford HP5 72 exposure. That would give me about 145+ shots.

My last camera would be my first: Pentax SP500.

I loved Plus-X. If I could get it, I'd use that else Tri-X.

Since it was the last roll ever, I would probably use my Leica M3 only because it was given to my by a friend. The converted/adapted Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 I have would be on it. I'd shoot Fuji Neopan 1600 too because I think that was the best film ever made for what it was. Gorgeous grain and super sharp. As good as black and white can get. I have a lot of photographs made on it that are among my favorites. i still have a few rolls, but I doubt they are any good anymore. I'd develop it in Rodinal because, ya know, grain.

When it was over, I would go buy some pencils and start drawing again.

11x14...might as well go big for the last one. And a sheet of Ilford FP4+, since it is a nice film to work with. I would like to photograph my triplets, but never again. I had a chance at the end of summer...I should have, I could have, but didn't. Now it is too late. RIP, Calder, Dec.2017. Twenty years was too short. To be able to take that image, I would gladly give up all photography afterwards.

Vaughn... such sad news, my condolences to you and your family. If it's any consolation, and it may not be, I lost a 20 year old nephew about seven and a half years ago. My grief is not as raw as it once was, but it is still present. I remember feeling so frustrated that I had not made more pictures of him on a trip we took together the summer before he died... yet, pictures I made in the few years after he died reflected the grief I felt for him, that loss is part of me.

Again, deepest condolences to you all... so sorry for your profound loss...

Sad news...we all do suffer that, or we become it.

I've just found a 2 1/4 X 3 1/4 print of my just-born 44 year old son...made a few dozen on a thick Agfa portrait paper, mailed to friends and relatives everywhere within two days. Leica IIf, Nikon 35/3.5. Best camera ever. HP4.
