I'll be heading back to Europe in February/March, mostly in the Baltics (and Belarus) and was thinking of adding Norway to the list as it's the only Scandinavian country I have left to visit, and I am unlikely to head back to this part of the world in the foreseeable future. As such, I'll only have 7-10 days to devote to it, not only due to my schedule, but also because it's such an expensive place to visit.
Of course, photography is the main reason why I'd like to go. I'm interested in the winter twilight that will still be around (I think) at that time, especially as you head further north. My original plan was to take the train from Oslo to Bergen, then the ferry up the coast up to Kirkenes (or at least Tromsø), with a stop or two along the way (maybe for the Lofoten islands). My concern is that I want to visit places that are still fairly accessible in the wintertime, preferably without the need of renting a car (although I could do that too, if needed) OR doing long hikes (I love hiking, but as I age, my knees and back aren't as cooperative as they used to be, and I don't want to carry a lot of unnecessary extra gear if I can avoid it (beyond my winter coat/boots).). If I do any paid tours/excursions, it would probably be only one or two (northern lights maybe, or dog sledding, or reindeer/Sami culture).
I don't need to do the ferry, it just seemed like a nice way to see the coast as I go. I am willing to fly between destinations (for example Oslo/Bergen/Tromso) just to give me more time on the ground. I know this will only give me a small taste of what Norway has to offer, but I'll take what I can get.
So I've listed what are probably pretty standard tourist places to visit, I'm happy to get off the beaten track too. Just looking for suggestions of nice places to visit around this time of year.
