The Fort Worth Public Library (downtown branch) is showing work from Peter Feresten in its celebration of Juneteenth. Peter is the person that built the Tarrant County College photography program when he came here as a new graduate from Rhode Island School of Design. I have not seen the show yet but am gonna attempt to make it Saturday. For those that don't know about Juneteenth, it is a celebration of when the slaves in Texas received word that they were free. It took two years for the word to travel from the east coast and it is celebrated on June 19 every year. I have seen a lot of the images in the past and they are very well done.

Thanks for the heads up on this Lee..have a good friend that will want to know about this.

Lee, Thank You again for the tip, met a friend at the library today and took in Peter's work. It is very well done. Do you know what format he used for most of it? My friend said she thought it might have been 8x10 since she remembered he did use that format. Funny to note that not all of the work was the same size, think most of it was 16x20, a little 20x24 and a couple of what looked like 7x17. The night (dusk?) work was really nice.

Also, noticed on the Library web site that Peter will have a retospective next year..

For those in the area, it is worth the trip to see.
