My Noblex is giving erratic exposure times. 500, 250 are OK. 125 is sometimes OK, other times about twice as long. 60 and 30 seem identical to eachother. All the long times, 15 to 1sec seem OK. Obviously something is wrong. Has anyone else encountered this?

Hi Neil,

I just bought a Noblex 135U off of Craig's List and it has the same problem you described. How did you resolve it?

Thanks!

I emailed Precision Camera Works re. the shutters peed problem and got this reply:

Dear John,

As for the Noblex 135U, (please post this response on APUG - it saves us a
lot of future emails  ) this is actually a fairly common problem and we
should be able to rectify it with a CLA (Clean, Lubricate and Adjust).

The labor for the CLA runs $325.00 + shipping (and includes minor parts).
(it will almost certainly need drive wheels (worst case scenario) and there
are 2 in your camera one is $68.00 and the other is $88.00 these are not
included in the CLA)

You need only ship it to the address below, well-packed and in a sealed
plastic bag with a note briefly describing the problem and your complete
contact information (name, address, phone and email). We will send you a
detailed estimate (free of charge) before doing any work. Should you decide
not to repair the camera the only charge would be for return shipping.

There is a 6-month warranty on the work performed.

Please send it insured and with no need for signature required.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!

Thank you,
Bob Watkins

the older noblex 135 had problems which seem to have been fixed in the newest ones. btw: german distributor is called spürsinn/ spuersinn.

i only had the first model temporarily(no. 19). they added 1/12 . shootings were magnificent. i also used closup-lenses.
i have also widelux 1500(one which is almost perfect working).be aware of used ones.
roundshot 65/70/220. horizon 202 and s3pro

Hi John, imagine my suprise to find a reply to my post after all these months! I hadn't found a solution to my Noblex problem - so thanks for the info. Not sure if I will send it for repair - this is the second problem I've had with it.

I have had Bob Watkins at Precision overhaul my noblex 135U and I recommend him highly. Great guy... very interesting..
and he did a great job doing a CLA. Sure it is expensive but worth it when you get those lovely negatives and the noblex
just hums along, roll after roll....

Thanks jolimon! He recently fixed my Widelux and did a great job. After I get my Noblex fixed he's going to work on my C330 providing I can set aside the funds.

Hi Neil, good luck whatever you decide. BTW do you have a scanner for panoramic negatives that you recommend?

Hi John,

I use a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED with glass neg carrier. The earlier 8000 version which I used previously struggled with contrasty Velvia 50 films. I'm hoping the DEE enhancement possible with the 9000 may improve matters but I haven't got around to testing it fully yet.

I don't know what is wrong but another source for repair is Noblex Canada in BC. My understanding is that Siggi Rohde bought all of the spare parts from Noblex when the factory ceased production of the camera. I recently sent my Nobex 150/U to him for repair and expect to get it back in a few days.

Just a follow up to my last post. I got my Nobblex Pro 6/150 back today from Siggi and it is in great working condition. Service was very fast as total time to get it back from the time I put it in the mail was less than two weeks. From the US you can ship to a P.O. Box in Washington state and he picks up and ships back from that address. I would recommend Priority Mail for shipment.

Nothing bad to say about other repair services but if you have a Noblex that needs repairs Siggi is the man to send it to IMHO.
