I have the opportunity to pick up two lenses from a local chap.One is marked Nikkor Auto-S 35mm 2.8 Nippon Kogaku.Any users? Opinions?

I used to have a 50/1.4 and a 35/2.8. Both were really good lenses. I'm sure they wouldn't measure up to today's standards but they gave photos a look I still like--not tack sharp but sharp enough and somewhat creamy in rendition of grey tones.
