You are right about the F6 remaining available - in Europe, apparently, that will be the ONLY film Nikon SLR available. Quite why there is no room for the FM3a, I don't know.NikoSperi said:Well, not quite. They are keeping the F6, presumably thinking that is enough to cover the market. Although it is a pretty big range gap between an F6 and an FM10!
OllyB said:All is not lost for 35mm photographers, however. The statement indicates, "In recognition of Nikon's commitment to professional photographers we will continue to manufacture and sell the F6, our flagship model, as well as a number of manual interchangeable lenses. Sales of the manual FM10 will also be continued outside Europe." Nikon UK included a list of interchangeable lenses that will remain in the line: Nikkor 20mm f/2.8, Nikkor 24mm f/2.8, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4, Nikkor 50mm f/1.2, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, and PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D.
True, but only outside Europe - not good for us Brits!Satinsnow said:David,
Not a big relief, but they did say the FM10 will stay in the line.

Would have thought the FM3a would be a candidate for keeping.
But a lot of us have.. like ground glass from some guy in the U.S. named Dave...Satinsnow said:I happen to agree with DF, I know I have not purchased a "brand new" item
Satinsnow said:I happen to agree with DF, I know I have not purchased a "brand new" item from a photography store for quite a while now, there is just to much available on the pre-owned market that is priced at levels I can afford, and we have to remember, a pre-owned item sold does nothing to support the manufacture of new items by any company.

df cardwell said:Reality check. How many NEW, from a camera shop lenses ( cameras ) have we bought lately ?
ShawnKielty said:This is what I thought was of real interest here http://www.nikon.co.uk/press_room/releases/show.aspx?rid=201 :
As a result of the new strategy Nikon will discontinue production of all lenses for large format cameras and enlarging lenses with sales of these products ceasing as soon as they run out of stock. This also applies to most of our film camera bodies, interchangeable manual focus lenses and related accessories. Although Nikon anticipates that the products will still be in retail distribution up to Summer 2006.
