I sold this lens on eBay for near $100, but the buyer returned it, saying there was water inside...I could see no water, and no condensation when kept in varying degrees of temperature. I think he might have been put off once the UGLY was in his hands. Anyway, I had an aluminum filter gall on the lens, and though I tried to remove it with a lens wrench, it finally took a small triangle file to cut it away. In the process, the lens body was also cut. I removed the filter, and used the lens for over a year with a brass filter in place (filters fit on and off easily). There are also a few tiny spots on the coating. None of this kept me from making decent photos. Selling this lens as one of the last pieces of an extensive Nikon kit I owned (moving ever more into MF), and I don't want to go through the eBay thing again.
