In my case, I unfortunately managed to kill the motor in the process. Maybe I broke a connection when separating the grip from the body or I flooded it with too much lighter fluid when peeling off the leatherette from the bottom of the grip. I may look into this at a later point as the motor is to nice to discard it and it's also against my standards for myself to let the story end this way. At least I have to give it another serious try and really get to my limits of competence before I give in.

If somebody wants to know how this continued: Letting the unit sit for a few weeks was enough of a cure to bring this MD-4 back to life. I suppose it just got flooded with too much solvent which by now had enough time to evaporate. The Motor works like a charm again and the battery-compartment is now held firm and tight. Shure enough I got another working MD-4 in the meantime to replace it. That one will find its way back into the wild after a nice cleaning and touch-up and also adjusting the catch for the battery-compartment.

That's very interesting.

Brush-cleaner (Pinselreiniger) on the underside of the grip to soften the glue holding the small leatherette in place. But as I apllied this several times with the MD-4 turned upside down it may have found its way to different places on the inside. On the outside nothing was visible, though.

If you want to bring the MD-4 back into the economic cycle, I would be interested.

I would like to look into it when I get to the topic of "motor drives and winders".

I intend to sell the replacement I bought too early. But both of them are fully functional by now.
