I know the flange distance allows to mount F lenses in a Leica R series. All my equipment is Nikon, and I would love to have a leica R as backup. But i havent been able to find an adapter for this. Does it exist?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I was asking if would be possible to substitute the leica R bayonet in an R4(for example) and add a nikon k3 bayonet. has anybody tried? is it feasible?

No. Having both Nikon and Leicaflex for almost 60 yrs, my friends and I would have done it long ago if feasible and economical. On the other hand, for rf cameras, lots of Nikon lenses modified for sm Leica. I like way both Nikon F and F2 and Leicaflex fit in the hand. Different, but both comfortable. I have an R4 but feeling not the same.

Thank you, what a pity. I have a lot of Nikon glass and i was offered a very cheap R4 body .but… i guess i will go for a second FM2

I think Leica lenses are perhaps better than Nikon but I don't think the bodies are better. So using Leica R lenses on a Nikon body would make much more sense.

I'm going to agree with Chan tran, why? The Nikon bodies are arguably better bodies. The r4 had a sketchy reputation, they all have a bit of shutter lag. A lot of poeple"put up" with leica r bodies to use the lenses. The Nikon will go click at the proper shutter speed everytime, no random hang up etc

I worked in a camera shop/lab and we had a customer who had a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 lens on his Leica R body. I think Leica didn't make a 80-200 f2.8 at that time. I don't remember if the lens was modified or he had a adapter.

There might have a 3rd party adaptor with a glass element to bring the Nikon lens into focus on a R body. I had a Nikon to Pentax K adaptor with a balance lens but acted like a telecoverter, like a .5 or so, and degraded the image
