I am looking to attach either a Nikon PB-4 or other Nikon mount bellows to an N90S body. I would use a BR ring and an AR-10 cable. I could also use an SB flash with TTL metering for slide copying. The AI tab on the N90S does not flip back like it does on the FE, F3 or Nikkormat FT3. Will the PB-4 mount on the N90S without damaging anything?

I just tried with a F801s (fixed Ai tab) on a PB-5 - where the camera mounting side looks like the PB-4. The Ai indexing tab is not touching the PB-5 and would not damage anything in this scenario.

It would be fine. No damaging and also you don't need the BR ring. For slide copying I would use the flash in manual.

I tried the N90S with a Soligor T2 bellows and Nikon F mount adapters. It did fit. My idea of using a BR ring and an AR-10 is to get semi-automatic diaphragm operation. The SB flash would be connected to the shoe of the N90S with a connecting cord and the flash would be facing the back of the slide copier. This should give correct TTL flash metering. Depending on how things fit, I would use either a 60/2.8 AF (with manual focusing) or a 55/2.8 AIS.

Two more things - the BR ring would be the BR-4 because the lenses would be used front forward and the AR-10 has a 2-pin connector while the N90S has a 10-pin connector. To match these up, an MC-25 connector is needed. I found an AR-10 for $14 and an MC-20 for $15.

I have a PK-12 pretty much permanently mounted on my PB-4, which not only eliminates such concerns, but makes it easier to mount on some bodies.
