Nikon L35 AF winding issue

I have a nice condition Nikon L35 AF. When I press the shutter release button to initially wind on the film or take a photograph, the film wind motor keeps running. So when I insert a film and want to wind on to the first frame, it keeps running and goes to the end of the film, and doesn't stop at frame one. It rewinds normally. Any ideas? Thanks Michael.

Dust in the film take up compartment of a dead sensor. Hold a can of canned air stationary and blow out the film path and take up compartment.

-) there is no sensor in the take-up compartment

-) there is a spring-loaded button sensor between the film rails, but that won't be affected by air-blow.
Anyway, it is not active during onward-winding. That will take place whether that button is depressed or not.

-) after closing the door and pressing the release the motor first winds on 3 frames, then at the successive releases just 1 frame.

-) that button sensor is active during film rewind.

All I can advise is to open the camera and try to find out how that motor is controlled.

I got a sample where the lock of the rewind button is blocked...

If your repair attempt fails, keep in mind that you got a fairly common model and that you still got a fine casing. You might swap that at the next working sample you come across.

I have had similar models of Nikon, Olympus, Minolta apart and they used infrared sensors to determine where the film is. The motor runs until the sensor in the take up compartment becomes blocked then timed for the proper 1st frame spacing. Sometimes you have to separate the clam shell to get the blockage out.
http://arcticwolfs.net/ has some service manuals of later models that are similar to the L35AF. One site said its very similar to the One Touch.
The problem may be a circuit failure.

I had a look at the circuit diagram of the successor models. Assuming that not much was changed in design in those 10 years, the motor is directly wired to the main circuit board where I suspect the fault too.
