Nikon FM2N went to a wedding

I have not been shooting as much with my older slr's so today I took only my Nikon FM2N to my nieces wedding. I would have taken some digital slr, but my wife insisted I was a guest and not a photographer today. In a way it was difficult because I am used to photographing weddings. I took one single roll of Arista EDU 400. My lenses were a 24/2.8, 50/1.4 and a 105/2.5. I used the 50/1.4 for almost all the photos but did a few with the 105. I ended up not using the 24 at all. It was fun. As long as I was going "old school" as my son put it, I decided to attach an older vintage Nikon strap and carry it all in my Nikon FB-17 case. I will attach a photo of the set for those who like seeing the classics.

I was curious about what time frame it came out. I got it along with some various equipment at an estate sale. I usually go with something less noticeable, but wanted something to stand out. I really need to use my film cameras more often.

I used Nikon gold and black strap since late 1970's but I used the 1" wide strap not so wide like the OP's. I refused to use hippie straps back then.

Depends on your definition of photographing a wedding. As a guest, I've shot AT many family weddings. I take shots the official photographer doesn't because he/she doesn't know the family or is busy getting the "must have" shots. Of course, since I know only one side of the wedding party, I miss a lot too.

That’s interesting... I Had no idea that that color scheme dates back that far. I seem to have become aware of them much later than that. 1990’s, I’d guess.

I still use the 1-inch burgundy color strap that came with my F-3 about 1982. All other cameras have a nondescript black (and, unfortunately, discontinued) black strap. No hippie straps or bright colors for me!

My F2AS bought in 77 came with a 1/2" black leather strap. My F3HP bought in 82 didn't come with a strap and so I bought the Nikon AN-4Y. My F5 bought in 2002 didn't come with a neck strap either. I use the Nikon AN-4Y for all my cameras now.

Back in the day Best Friend Joe and I shot weddings professionally. Most definitely work! and this was before the current crop of "bridezillas" and their Momzillas! No more for this old guy! I'd far rather shoot candids, after assuring the Pro that I'll respect his/her working space. I do recall one wedding, held outside in a park with a goldfish pool where a bridesmaid tripped - or was pushed - into the pool..And Joe and I each got the event on film!

I just developed the roll of film from yesterdays wedding. It is drying now. I will be scanning it with my Epson V500 later tonight or tomorrow. My scanning is the weak link in the process. Does anyone have tips on how to get the best scans with the Epson? Unfortunately, I do not have room to set up a darkroom to do my own printing, or I would go that route instead of scanning.

Attend a Jewish wedding as family and you'll change your mind.

The thing starts at 6 but you gotta be there at 2:30. Mill around for 5 hours because 6 don't mean 6. So, you can start drinking at about 3 with uncle mo and cousin jerry (who hates you but when you got the flask...) or you can bring the oldest, loudest and heaviest SLR you own and annoy the family while being halfway in the aforementioned flask. I don't really care how the shots (ha!) come out at some point but I'm having fun. Yes, I stay out of the protogs way unless they ask me to get a few shots on film.

So, last wedding I brought a Lubitel 2 and a pocket full of flashbulbs and scared all the kids, blinded the in laws and burnt a hole in the dance floor. Before that was Land Cameras and peel apart film. I brought a T50 once...

I don't know but I think the gray and other color besides yellow are later. The yellow and black one that I bought late 70's doesn't have Nikon logo on it.

I was part of a wedding (not my own) years ago and I was asked not to bring a camera. A photographer who obviously did not have experience with weddings showed up. She had a nikon film camera of some kind, 200 speed color print film and no flash. It was an indoor affair with very low lighting. I confided in my wife that the photographer's pictures would not look very good. They didn't.
