Hello all,
I recently acquired a Nikon FG at an estate sale. I loaded it with two 1.5 v batteries last week and had no issues with metering or mirror hang up. I went to shoot some photos with it yesterday, but found the aforementioned functionality no longer worked. I figured this was a result of accidentally draining the battery, so I loaded it up some fresh batteries. Unfortunately, this seemed to have no effect. I'm assuming a circuit may be borked or something like that, but am pretty unsure at this point. Has anyone else experienced this or similar issues?

Check your shutter speed dial. If it's set on M90 the meter turns off. M90 is a manual only speed. The dial is large enough that it can accidentally be moved unless it's set to A or P, that is Aperture priority or Progam, where it locks in place.

Sadly, it doesn't seem that cleaning the battery contacts made any sort of difference. What I find so odd is that one day everything was working as it should and the next day it wasn't, seemingly out of the blue

Has anyone else experienced this or similar issues?
Yes, unfortunately my FG undergone the same issues 20 years ago already.
