Hi, I just started shooting analog with a Nikon FE. Great camera!

I purchased a 50mm 1.4/f AI-S lens to shoot with the body, and I had a great time shooting with it on auto mode. However, I recently noticed that when I shoot on aperture priority mode, my shutter speed would be slower than I was used to. Maybe it was because I was shooting indoors on ASA 200 film, but I chose to change my aperture to 1.4 to let as much light in as possible. That's when I saw that my shutter speed when on auto mode wouldn't change when I went down in aperture.

The meter does work, I know that. I can see that the shutter speed changes as I focus on differently lighted areas. However, the shutter speed does not change when I focus on the same subject at f/16 and at f/1.4. I'd like to also mention that I dropped the camera once. Is something wrong, or am I just worrying about nothing?

Check the metering tab on the body isn't folded up and not contacting the ridge on the back of the lens. My F3 behaved like that last week till I realised the tab was folded up. It should be down and touching the step on the lens.
