Picked up a F801 today, quite like it although surprised at the weight !

All seems well, apart from perhaps the ae lock slider. Sliding the lock doesn’t seem to lock settings in the viewfinder LCD. Is this normal ? Much like the ae lock on the FE ?

I’m Using AI glass In aperture priority mode, centre weighted metering if that makes a difference.

Ignore... I've waggled the slider a few times and now it does indeed lock settings on the lcd when I slide it. I guess not used by the previous owner and had some crud under the contacts on the slider.

The crud is called tarnish. It comes from oxidation. Regular usage keeps it rubbed off for a long while but it will eventually require a disassembly cleaning.
