Looking for an f5. I was recently given a few nikon AF telephotos so now I am looking for an f5. Cosmetic condition is not important as long as it works. Thank you.

I don't know about a little. But I definitely won't pay a lot for a beat up one. I'm also not a collector so I don't need a mint one. Do you have on to offer or are you just curious?

Better still an F4 they don't cost a fortune either

Is the f100 similar in AF? All I care about is using this with a 300/4 AF and a 500 D. I have an f100 here somewhere and I think I do have an n90s.

There was one on fredmiranda for $250 recently. I bought a lens from the guy and he seemed nice. Lens arrive quickly and was actually better than described.

I just bought that one today.

I guess you're the guy who bought the 35mm lens? LOL

Yes, I've owned an F100 before. It's essentially the same camera as the F5 without a few bells and whistles. AF and metering are the same I think. The differences are TTL capabilities, frame rate if I'm not mistaken, some data recording that the F5 can do, and a few other things.

I used my F100 with an 80-200 D, and a 24-70 G.

OP there may be other things that are different that may or may not be important to you but if you are going to invest in either the F100 or the F5 which both involve quite large sums of money, you might want to research the subject a little more. There is at least one thread on Photrio on F100 v F5 and may be more plus Ken Rockwell has I believe done a review of both

I keep forgetting about fredmiranda. Time to fire up the old account there. Thanks for the info on the f100. hopefully my f100 is still here and I can still try. This is a good thing to curb the GAS lol.

Also a great overview by THom Hogan
