@NeillRobinson

You should ensure that you do not expose the electronics to electrostatic discharge. So don't touch contacts directly, as much as possible.

But this is a more theoretical note as long as you don't use a grounding mat. 😉

This excellent tutorial shows, among other things, how to remove the bottom cover, along with helpful instructions.

What I don't know, however, is whether there is a voltage converter in the F4 that increases the operating voltage. This will probably be the case, so I would generally be careful as with all electronic devices, even if they are not powered by mains voltage. Personal safety always comes first.

Oof, no - there's no chance in hell I would attempt this - I know the limit of my abilities far too well! I would end up making things worse, and not better.

I think I will have to just be content with a manual focus F4 for now, and look for a CLA at some point in the future from a professional...

When I disassemble my F4 to solve the aperture problem, I will also show the AF connector and what it looks like there in terms of electrically contacts.

Oh that would be great. Have you considered making a video? There aren't that many that I can find on YT of f4 disassembely..

I am sorry, I don't make videos 🙂

I think it would be more informative to make a picture post with the most important stations and explanations. This reduces the viewing time for the reader and also reduces my effort.

By the way, we recently had a discussion/poll about this in the forum:
