Hello,

i just stumbled over someone offering a Nikon F3/T (black) in really nice overall condition. The problem is that i don't have any idea how much it is worth? Could you help me?

-thank you

They've become collectible in NOS/mint condition. User or slightly better examples are nothing special and shouldn't be that pricey. They've got nothing over a plain vanilla F3/F3HP apart from the partial titanium skin. Functionally, the limited-run F3P is the only accessible F3 "special" that actually delivers something different.

A woman offered me her F3hp for $150... I insisted on giving her $250. Agree with CGW... I wouldn't want a black one the Titanium finish ones are so neat and unusual, and likely in mint cond worth $800 or more.

I disagree, I have the P body and the original Nikon service manual for the P and T bodies and can assure you there are many internal differences from a standard HP body, mostly in the addition of extensive silicone sealing throughout the body. The P is essentially the stripped down brass version of the T, which IMO is the very best of the F3 bodies. My local has a beautiful yet not quite mint champagne for 700, with the original burgandy leather case, very very pretty.

Beyond sealing, what are the "many internal differences" that actually impact or enhance function? Shutter speeds? Meter sensitivity?

from my experience, about twice what a standard F3HP / F3 would cost in similar condition.

Yeah, well, Impact and Enhance are good words, especially if you are shooting in very wet areas in the middle of nowhere. I'll go find the manual, but its pretty much every single internal wire and board has another layer of sealant, every single seam has silicone, and every single moving component has a different Nikon grease. Not Nikonos sealing, but not that far off.
