Sover Wong has announced on his website (http://soverf2repair.webs.com/DP12_ring_resistor.htm) that he now has replacement ring resistors for the DP-3 and DP-12 metering prisms, better known, when mounted on an F2, as the Nikon F2SB and Nikon F2AS, respectively. This is great news for owners and would-be owners as it addresses the Achilles’ heel of these fine prisms. Your SB / AS can now be willed to your great grandchildren as Sover offers a lifetime warranty and estimates 50+ years of professional use. Well done, Sover!

What about the DP-1/DP-11 -- they suffer from the same problem (at least mine does...)

I currently have 1000 of these super DP-3/12 ring resistors in stock.

I can usually recondition DP-1/2/3 carbon ring resistors to work like new again.

I also have DP-1/11 wire cladded ring resistors in stock.

Welcome to APUG, Sover. If I ever need work on my F2, I'll send it to you!

Now I no longer have any reason not to get an F2AS to go with my F3HP.

Sover, welcome to the insanity called APUG. Now, don't be a stranger.

rthomas, very true. I wouldn't be surprised if the F2AS winds up supplanting your F3HP, like it did in my case. I imagine that if I'd tried out an F2AS when I'd been checking out my first F3, I probably would not have bothered with the F3.

That is good news. I wonder how many of the resistors he has in stock?

If you Google Sover Wong (He is based in UK) his website is interesting, informative and shows exactly what he can/cannot do. As far as I know he buys all the parts in as and when he needs them so the supply at present is open ended. he also keeps very good records about the cameras he has worked upon and even if a particular camera is sold, the new owner can if he wishes, find out from Sover Wong what work was done to it.
