I was wondering if Nikon F2AS meters are more reliable than the meters in the F2A.

I've had 8 or so F2A's in the past couple of years, but I sold the 3 F2A cameras that were 1/3 to 1 stop off. The 5 remaining camera meters are accurate now, but for how much longer?

Any comments?

I'm sure the meters in the DP11 and DP12 are different because the DP12 has a low light metering capability than the DP11 lacks. But I don't think this is enough to state that it is more durable. As long as they both employ that circular resistor (the DP11 and -12 still have it, don't they?), this is the achilles heel in the design.

had a bunch of both. both types seemed to deteriorate (accuracy, jumpiness) at a similar rate. accuracy you can keep adjusting for a while, jumpiness is harder to tame (see heel above). one age-related diff: the needle on the A remains fully readable; the LEDs of the AS may get dim to the point of uselessness in bright daylight. eventually, i only kept DE-1s...

The LED in my F2S are pretty easy to see, unless i am backlit by bright light. I do not know if they well start to fade out or not, or if there is any replacement available.....:wondering:
