Yup. Once my next paycheck comes in, I'll take them up on their offer of a $200 freshly CLA'd body. My old camera will live on as a donor camera so that many others may be repaired.

Got in touch with Sover Wong, and he apparently has a tool to safely extract the shaft, so I'll be sending it to him when he opens bookings. I just need to set an alarm so I get in early, but my beloved camera will still live. Might send my other Nikon over as well for a quick once-over, just for that 1/4 stop shutter accuracy he somehow manages to do.

You’ll probably have to wait for more than one payday then ;-) His pricing is not for the faint hearted.
Yeah, I decided to not do that for good reason. My backup Nikon's been recently CLA'd, and the tiny bit of extra shutter accuracy isn't worth several hundred dollars.
