Can anyone recommend a good Nikon servicer. I would like to have a CLA on my F2 and F3 cameras done. It seems having cameras cleaned, lubed and adjusted these days you really need to find the guy or gal that specializes in the particular camera.

Thankyou,

Jamie

I think that many experienced repair people can, and have, worked on Nikons. I use Bob Watkins at Precision Camera Works for just about everything. He recently CLA'd a Nikon F2AS for me, including new foam, and I am very happy. I just noticed that he has not updated his website with his new address, as he has moved, probably best to call first.

Sover Wong is a specialist in CLA's of F-2's. I would use him without question. Search for him on Google or Photo-Net. He has a website.

I just sent something to Bob at the "7064 W. Main Street" address, and he received it promptly.

And I agree that Precision Camera Works does exceptional work.

Pick someone who specializes in MF cameras like the F2 and F3. Judy Bienvenu (D.C. area but does lots of mail in work) is such a person.

Her biography can be found here:

Her address is:

She has done CLA's on several Nikon F's, an F2, and an F3 for me. Superb work. CLA cost is $75.00. Don't recall what a foam job runs but it's reasonable.

I heard good things about both Judy Bienvenu and Sover Wong. Wong only works on F2. If you want a third choice you can always send it to me. There is no charge but you will never see it again.

Thankyou for all that gave me possible servicers. It gives me a good place to start.

Do it right with the F2, have Sover rebuild it. He does the shutter to much higher tolerances and the does a more comprehensive rebuild process. F2's are so tough, after Sover, it'll go another 30 years.
F3 may actually be better to go to Nikon, but the charge a lot, and IMO F3's need less regular service, as in if it isn't broke don't send it in, but most F2's need a touch up, and my advice is do it right and get it all done.
