I've a Nikon F mount to M42 adaptor with an infinity lens fitted. I've also a M42 to T mount adaptor with which I can attach the Nikon camera to a telescope.
To do this I remove the infinity lens, by undoing the lock ring.
But I've forgotten how the infinity lens fits into the Nikon F mount to M42 adaptor!!
The infinity lens is either plano-convex or concave-convex
My question is does the convex end face into the camera body or not?

I do not understand your point. The lens is mounted within the adapter. And by means of the mounts at both sides the orientation of this lens is predetermined.

Am I slow on the uptake again?

Yes, it is the orientation that I''m confused about. Is the 'correct' orientation of the infinity lens [when fitted to the adaptor] with the convex part pointing towards the mirror in the camera body or not.
Having removed the infinity lens from the adaptor I want to know which is the correct orientation of that infinity lens within the adaptor. Whilst I'm sure of the convex portion of the lens - it wobbles on a flat surface - I'm not certain if the other side is plano or concave.

So you removed the lens from the adapter and now want to know which way round to put it back?

Sounds like you try it both ways and see which way works.
