Nikon F-801s dead ??

Is there a problem with the AA batteries ???
do the nikons [F-801s] need 1.8 volt /
the AA batteries to day are 1,5 /1,4 volt = dead nikon ????

As far as I remember the Nikon F801 use 6 V lithium batteries.

The Nikon N8008 (and s, and F-801) usually used 4 AA batteries. I think there was a different holder that let you use a lithium battery, but it's less common. Normal AA alkaline batteries should work, but they may have to be pretty fresh. I don't know about 1.2v NiMH AA batteries. I am not familiar with any AA-size battery that delivers 1.8 volts, and it certainly didn't exist at the time of the N8008.

The battery holders on these sometimes get corrosion or oxidation from old batteries, so cleaning the holder and the terminals in camera gently is a good idea. Don't break the holder.

I unearthed my old N8008s/F-801 a few months about. I had to order a new battery holder 'cause the old one was corroded. It works fine with four NiMH AA batteries or alkaline batteries.

Second that. NiMH rechargeable batteries works fine in the F801s.

Just an update THE BATTERIES on the market are DUDES!!!!
brand names from store DUDES !!
if you meter then they read out 1.5v put them in a chain will not work --???

It doesn't sound like a battery problem. NiMH's are rated 1.2V and works fine in the F801s. If your eyes are as bad as mine, you may want to doublecheck if you load the battery holder correctly.

It's possible; some batteries may not supply a lot of current and/or exhibit dramatic voltage sag when current draw is high. This means that some devices may not work well with them. Try NiMH rechargeable batteries instead. And counterfeit batteries are indeed around.

The rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries work well in my Canon T90 which is from that era.

I buy batteries from Amazon, only ones with thousands of reviews, because there are bad batteries being sold. It's possible the store you bought them from didn't know they weren't legitimate.

The F601 (simpler version of the 801) used a lithium battery and no others could be fitted, but the 801, 801s and onto the F100 all used AA's either disposable or rechargeable or even aa sized lithium. They were not particular fussy, But buy decent ones not some cheap 'knock offs', as their capacity for longevity can be extremely limited especially if the inbuilt motor-drive is used
