Hello. I wonder if anybody can help me. I don't seem to be having any luck on search engines. I am seeking the repair/service manual for the Nikon DP-2 finder. Thank you.

google search - DP-2 service manual OR DP-2 repair manual
dead links, other photo forums looking for the same. some sites want a sign in /register to download. google docs link redirect to another site when download clicked wanted a register then on return after checking other links the google docs went dead.
get your antivirus up to date and backup up your system prior to registering.
http://arcticwolfs.net/ has other Nikon finders including the DP-1

Thank you. Sounds like you did the exact searches I did. Zilch. One site looked "hopeful" of finding it. But they wanted a credit card. They weren't going to actually charge it. They just needed it to register me. Yeah, right.

I was in similar situation not that long ago, in my case I was looking for service manual for a nikon lens. Spent few days of searching hundreds of websites, torrents, forums, p2p networks, the whole lot.... anyway, I've found what I was looking for and right there decided to compile all of my finds in one place: user337.com - There is a list of manuals with direct download links (no pay walls, no sneaky tactics, no bs) for people like me trying to find a manual for their lenses or cameras while not spending days or weeks on google. Some of them are good quality pdfs some are old scans in poor quality but it's a start. It's not a lot yet but I am updating the list in my free time and adding new ones as I find them. If you manage to find one for DP-2 and would like to share please drop me an email and I will include it in the list. Thanks. The site may be slow as it's on cheap budget hosting so please be patient while its loading.

Thank you. Since I went on my DP2 service manual search more than a week ago, nothing has turned up. So I jumped into the project last night with the resources I found on the DP1. Since I had done a DP1 before, I was somewhat versed in it. The big problem with this DP2 was that somebody else attempted work on it and I inherited the mess. Particularly the dial string for shutter speed. I got that problem done and am now in the re-assembly stage. The 2 finders are different of course, but so far so good. We'll see. As of this writing I've paused to let some glue dry that I used to hold some washers in place so I can reassemble the 2 halves without displaced washers. Very tedious.

Hope it works out for you, I know the pain of inheriting someone else attempts of fixing things, usually not a good thing. All the best.

After all the trouble I've been through this is a job that can't be done without the manual. I managed to fix my dial string and even repaired the metal wiper assembly which had been bent up. But now have reached a dead end without the manual. It is not possible to know where to position the geared f stop ring and the finder pulley for same. Absolute dead end without the manual, unless I were willing to go through multiple disassemblies and reassemblies to find these positions by trial and error. Without the manual this job is over. Scratch one DP2, which was pretty much beat up junk in the first place. Damn I hate that.

That doesn't sound very good. I will keep searching for that manual, I do keep finding more service manuals especially on Russian and Chinese websites / forums and adding them to the blog in my spare time. Hopefully I will come across one for DP2 soon.

While I think I may be able to find one in time.... if you are desperate I have found a copy in Italy for sale for around 5 Euros - you may be able to email and ask if it could be scanned and sent digitally? here are the links I have found (use translate option in google chrome):

It's a long shot but another way you may be able to get it is a man from Netherlands who mentioned that he has it on Rangefinder Forum in this post:

Not settling for getting beaten like that, I opened it back up when I told myself no. It's a compulsion. I've actually made some encouraging headway, enough to want to see it through. I went on those sites (thank you). One says DP2 repair manual, but it also says sold. The other one says "supplement". I don't know what that is. I wonder if these materials are in Italian. So frustrating. I'm 98% in progress. All I need is such a small amount of information to be able to finish the job the right way.

Have you tried calling some Nikon repair places and asking (offering to buy) for a photocopy? If there is one nearby, maybe even go for a look in person...?

Hi! I know this is a old thread, but wondering if in working with your DP2 you can provide any insight to the working of the little silver "Shutter speed dial lock" on top of the shutter speed selector dial? Mine is stuck in the pressed/down position so the DP2 selector knob free spins back and forth in the low-light metering range no matter where the selector is set, and won't lock in for the normal metering range....thx for any insights!
