Nikon D5600 Body, Older AF Lenses & Lens Rec.

Hi all; I'm currently looking at a Nikon D5600 body and would suspect that an older 50mm F1.8 AF-N would probably autofocus on it, but maybe somone with a D5xxx series might know. I suspect there is no metering with older MF legacy lenses tho.
I'm also looking for a good short or long zoom outside my heavier AF-N 70-210 F4-5.6; Something that has stabilization and a decent price, new or used. My use is for travel/hiking with a lighter kit being 66 years young now. Thanks for your help.

All Nikon bodies below the 7000 series need to have the focus motor in the lens (AFS, etc.). Your D5600 has no focus motor in the body (nor does my D5100).

Tim is correct as to the motor in the body of the 7000 series Nikon bodies. Two years ago I researched and bought my first Nikon DSLR and got a D7100. I have many MF Nikon lenses and found that I can use both AFS lenses as well as the older AF-D lenses and all my AIS Nikon MF lenses. The manual focus lenses work very well with the 7100 and can matrix meter, but must adjust the F-stop the old fashioned way on the lens rather than with the camera. My next body will be the D610 full frame that behaves much like 7100 with MF lenses.
