Any one use either of these? I'm looking to get a dslr that will work with the nikon lenses I already own, and am wondering if the extra cost for the d70 is worth it.
Standard Nikon lenses will not function with either of these cameras, that is the cameras will not meter in stop down mode as the D200 will.
As for the cameras the D50 actually has a little better renedering engine than the D70 but lacks some features such as DOF preview button, mirror lock up and a few other features. IMO the D50 is the better buy of the two.
My brother purchased one last year and I found the camera to be very easy to use though I only took a handful of test shots. The camera has a good feel and operates quickly, but so will the D70, D70s, D80, and all of the Nikon digital SLRs.
My prefference would be the D200 since I think this represents the best value of their entire DSLR line.
If money were no object the Canon 5D would be my first choice.
As it stands I keep refusing to commit to a D camera but I'm sure I will eventually.
