The G (gelded) lenses do not have aperture rings, and thus won't work with most Nikon film cameras except certain newer models, or in very limited ways. Consult your camera manual.
It will work with my 3 F80s.
What about the newer FF version? It's a little more, but it's made for FF and DX.
I think the FX full frame version is triple the price.
The 35mm FX version of the G lens is a bit more expensive or you can get the AF Nikkor 35mm f2D for a little less than double the price of the 35mm DX lens.
