I'm putting together a cheap AF camera and so far I have a Nikon U2 ( N75 ) body. I'm pretty sure I want the 35-105 focal length but am unsure about the evolution ( or not ) of the lens. Seems to be three versions? Did the optics stay the same throughout the series? I'll most likely shoot at f/5.6 or smaller most of the time. Is the AF WAY slower on the first version compared to the AF-D version? Another thing I like about the first version is how the lens zooms. It looks like only the internal barrel extends while the other two versions look like they are pushed out and the whole outer body of the lens is out front? Am I correct on this?
