nikon 52mm drop in filter

I can see some nikon brand filters on ebay which are the right size. Can they be used, or shaved off to fit into a drop in filter? I hope to fit them into a tele lens.

All Nikon 52mm filters except the polarizers fit without being changed, they are thin. Which tele are you going to be using them on?
