I have a D200 which means I can use AI lenses in A priority or Manual. I have a 300mm 4.5 ai lens and a 100-300 zoom 5.6 ai that I would like to use with it. Any advise , suggestion, or warnings?

The 300 prime is a bit faster, might be somewhat sharper, the 100 to 300 will have issues with distortion and sharpness at the long short end of the zoom range, which may not be a problem with a cropped sensor. If you shooting for the webb and not printing large prints I don't think you see any difference. So shooting in dim lighting on a tripod, I would use the 300 prime. If shooting handheld in daylight the zoom.

Thank you for an honest answer
