I'd do it. Only thing though I believe the AIS lenses don't have the bayonet tab for the pre-AI cameras (Nikon F, F2, Nikkormat etc.) so if you have one of those you won't be able to use it unless you do it in stop-down mode. I know the Nikkormat FTN does this I did it with a 50mm f1.8 Series E AIS and it worked, not sure about the F or F2.

I just checked my 85 f/1.4 Ai-S - 105 f/2.5 Ai-S - 135 f/2.8 Ai-S lenses, they all have the prong.

I believe all my other Ai-S lenses also have the prong.

Possibly the very last Ai-S lenses don't have the prong, I don't know.

Mick.

For wath I know, in the manual focus lens, only the "series E" don't have the prong.

Ok, FYI I bought the 105mm f2.5 for 186$. I like it in combination of my FE and the angle of view seems very interesting. I now go to try it with the USAF target (to find the lpmm and the best aperture) and above all in the real world.
I think to use my usually combination of Delta 100 and Ethol UFG developer.

Hi, this is my first post on APUG.
For my Nikon FE I'm searching a short tele for portrait, landscape and general photography. I own the 24mm f/2.8 AI and the 50mm f/1.8 AI.

The 105mm f/2.5 you just purchased was a good choice for a good price.

I have the 105 and the 135mm lenses and love them both.

When I am shooting head shots, I prefer the 105mm. When shooting head & shoulder shots, I prefer an 85mm.

When I am shooting landscape and general photography with a 24mm and a 50mm, I prefer the 135mm rather than the 105.

By the way, congratulations on your first post and welcome to the forum.
